Washington, D.C.—The Association of American Veterinary Medical Colleges (AAVMC) is asking the U.S. Senate to approve an expansion of the Public Health Workforce Grants and Public Health Workforce Loan Repayment Programs to support veterinarians and public health.

The House of Representatives passed the bill on Sept. 30. The proposed legislation will amend the Public Health Services Act to add veterinary public health as one of the groups eligible for training grants. It would also make veterinarians studying public health eligible for loan repayment.
