Atlanta -- Hundreds of veterinary leaders will convene today to address multiple issues facing veterinary medicine at the American Veterinary Medical Association's (AVMA) House of Delegates.

The AVMA's House of Delegates gathers state association leaders and allied veterinary groups to confront problems facing the profession and set policy for the national association.

Today's agenda includes a diverse range of topics from the veterinarian's role with antibiotic uses in animals to accreditation of foreign veterinary schools.

The AVMA meeting is expected to draw some 9,000 veterinary professionals when its convention officially kicks off July 31-Aug. 3.
