Schaumburg, Ill. -- Determined to combat Internet misinformation, the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) and WebMD have partnered to find a new way for pet owners to seek medical advice.

The Pet Health Exchange is an online pet health community where visitors can find information about their pets and can discuss pet health issues with AVMA member veterinarians.

So far, more than 20 AVMA guest experts have joined the site. These experts encourage discussion and help pet owners ask the right questions when visiting their veterinarian.

“The Pet Health Exchange will help pet owners keep up to date on pet information about their pet’s health, so they can provide the very best care for their animals,” says AVMA President Dr. Larry Corry. “But no online community, no matter how well it is done, can ever be a substitute for the relationship between veterinarians and their clients.”
