AVMA launches website aimed at students, new DVMs
The AVMA recently announced its launch of MyVeterinaryLife.com, a new website that provides veterinary students and new veterinarians with resources and tools to help navigate their professional careers and personal lives, according to a release from the organization.
“Speaking from personal experience, those first few years after graduating are full of exciting opportunities. They may also come with challenges that can feel overwhelming at times,” says AVMA chief products and services officer Kevin Dajka, DVM, in the release. “We’ve focused our efforts to highlight those opportunities and help manage challenges that our up-and-coming veterinarians may face.”
The website is organized by career stage—student, new veterinarian and rising professional—and then further divided into career, financial and wellbeing categories. Thus, for example, students who choose the wellbeing category can access a wellbeing assessment specific to veterinary students, and new veterinarians who click on the financial category can find a salary estimator.
MyVeterinaryLife.com is also hosting a series of seven online modules led by student-debt expert Paul Garrard that cover topics like federal loan repayment options and how to use loan calculators, the release says.
