Amarillo, Texas -- More than 80 cases of beef filet pet treats have been recalled for possible Salmonella contamination.

Merrick Pet Care Inc. announced the voluntary recall after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration found Salmonella contamination in surveillance samples of the treats, labeled, 10 oz Beef Filet Squares for Dogs (lot number 100847L7). The treats being recalled are marked with a “best if used by date” of March 24, 2012.

No illnesses have been reported, according to the FDA, but customers who purchased the affected lot numbers should return unused portions of the treats to the place of purchase for a full refund.

Questions about the recall can be directed to Merrick at (800) 664-7387.
