Fort Collins, Colo.-

Colorado State University (CSU)'s Veterinary Teaching Hospital is now among three U.S. veterinary teaching hospitals to offer acupuncture and chiropractic services for equine.

Dr. Gayle Trotter, an equine surgeon at the CSU Veterinary Teaching Hospital, has now expanded his practice to include the alternative procedures.

"Veterinary chiropractic is a science that views the equine as an integrated animal, treating the musculoskeletal, neurological and vascular systems as being interrelated."

In addition to alternative therapy he conducts traditional examinations to gather a health history, current clinical conditions and other data.

Other veterinary schools offering alternative therapy for equine are Cornell University and Texas A&M.
