Wisconsin veterinary lab nails full accreditation from AAVLD

DVM360 MAGAZINE

Madison, Wis. -- The Wisconsin Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (WVDL) received full accreditation by the American Association of Veterinary Laboratory Diagnosticians (AAVLD).

Accreditation was awarded following a three-day evaluation that included a review of the laboratory's quality-assurance system, facilities and personnel, the university reports in a prepared statement. Accreditation is for the next five years, the longest term that can be granted.

WVDL, a full-service veterinary diagnostic laboratory, is located on the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus, with a branch laboratory in Barron, Wis.

The laboratory provides diagnostic tests for pets, exotics and production animals, including surveillance testing for a variety of animal diseases (such as brucellosis and chronic wasting disease). Other testing services qualify animals, semen and embryos for interstate and international shipment.

AAVLD is a non-profit charged with accrediting veterinary diagnostic laboratories in the United States and Canada.
