Denver -- The American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) named five veterinary experts to lead the development of its new nutrition guidelines.
AAHA's newest committee includes Tony Buffington, DVM, MS, PhD, Dipl. ACVN of The Ohio State University; Joe Bartges, DVM, PhD, Dipl. ACVIM, University of Tennessee; Lisa Freeman, DVM, PhD, Dipl. ACVN, Tufts University; Don Ostwald, DVM, Dipl. ABVP of Wheat Ridge Animal Hospital, Wheat Ridge, Colo.; Mary Grabow, DVM, Noah's Westside Animal Medical Center, Indianapolis, Ind.; and veterinary technicians Julie Legred, CVT and Kimberly Baldwin, LVT.

Jason Merrihew, AAHA's communication coordinator, reports that the selections include academic leaders, hospital directors in AAHA-accredited practices and credentialed veterinary technicians. The goal, AAHA adds, is to create a set of nutritional guidelines incorporating the latest advancements in medical information yet remain practical so they be used by veterinarians in private practice.

As previously reported, the guidelines are slated for completion by next summer.
