P&G recalls some canned cat foods due to low levels of thiamine

Cincinnati, Ohio -- The Proctor & Gamble Company (P&G) announced a voluntary recall of some Iams canned cat food in North America after testing showed the product may contain insufficient levels of thiamine (Vitamin B1).

The recall covers cans of Iams ProActive Health Cat and Kitten Food dated between 09/2011 and 06/2012. All varieties of 3-ounce and 5.5-ounce cans are included in the recall. Only food distributed in North America will be recalled.

Consumers who have purchased food with these codes should discard it and can call P&G at (877) 340-8826 for more information or for a product refund.
