AVMA seeks input on new veterinary specialties

DVM360 MAGAZINE

Schaumburg, Ill. -- The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) is seeking public comment on two new veterinary specialties in animal welfare and parasitology.

The AVMA’s American Board of Veterinary Specialties is considering a specialty from the American College of Animal Welfare, as well as a parasitology specialty from the American College of Veterinary Microbiologists.

The parasitology specialty could draw as many as 200 interested veterinarians, the animal welfare specialty at least 50, according to the petitioning organizations. Comments must be signed and received no later than Nov. 1, 2010 by David Banasiak, AVMA Education and Research Division, 1931 North Meacham Rd., Ste. 100, Schaumburg, IL 60173-4360, or via e-mail to dbanasiak@avma.org.
