DOVER, DEL.—Delaware veterinarians must disclose side effects of prescription medications to clients if asked.
The Delaware Board of Veterinary Medicine issued the final order March 1 and now requires veterinarians to provide a list
of the side effects of prescribed medications to pet owners either verbally or in a written or electronic format when requested
to do so. Failure to do so could result in a charge of unprofessional conduct under the state's veterinary practice act, according
to the new rule.
