SCHAUMBURG, ILL. — The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) created a new five-member Steering Committee for FDA Policy on Veterinary
Oversight of Antimicrobials to provide veterinary input on the use of antimicrobials in food animals.
The committee will work with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) providing input on policies and regulations that
dictate veterinary use of antimicrobials. AVMA's involvement stems from its desire to increase veterinary oversight of antimicrobial
use where needed while retaining the ability to use antimicrobials when needed.
