Washington — The Food Animal Residue Avoidance Database (FARAD) will continue to be operational through 2010 after receiving $1 million
in funding from Congress.
While the amount still falls far short of the $2.5 million requested by the AVMA Governmental Relations Division (GRD), FARAD
is off the endangered list for the first time in several years.
The $1 million appropriation is an increase of nearly $200,000 over 2009.
FARAD was forced to drastically scale back its operation and only was able to remain open in 2008 as a result of last-minute
bridge funding from various agencies.
