OLYMPIA, WASH. — A new bill in Washington state seeks to assemble a livestock care board to create and oversee minimum-care standards for livestock and poultry.

House Bill 2674, introduced Jan. 24, would give the board the power to adopt minimum standards of care governing livestock and poultry. The board would consist of 12 individuals, including the state veterinarian. The board would also spell out disciplinary provisions for violations.

The bill was referred to the Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee on Jan. 24.
