Schaumberg, Ill. -- The American Veterinary Medical Foundation (AVMF) and Pfizer Animal Health are partnering to offer a new annual scholarship program that will dole out $2 million to veterinary students by 2012.
The Pfizer Animal Health Veterinary Student Scholarship Program will provide about 225 veterinary students with $2,500 scholarships each year. The program is open to all second- and third-year students, but at least 40 percent of the scholarships will be earmarked for students entering food-animal or rural practices and another 30 percent will go to students with diverse backgrounds.
The scholarship program will be administered by AVMF and funded by Pfizer Animal Health. Applications for the spring 2010 awards are available at www.avmf.org and are due by Nov. 13, 2009.
