FDA approves new drug for reproduction management in sheep

DVM NEWSMAGAZINE

Washington -- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved a new drug that aims to support reproduction management in sheep.

EAZI-Breed Controlled Intravaginal Drug Release (CIDR) Sheep Insert induces estrus in ewes during seasonal anestrus, according to the FDA. The insert is a steroid hormone that enables out-of-season breeding in sheep and fills a need the sheep industry has cited as a top priority, says FDA.

EAZI-Breed is manufactured by Pharmacia and Upjohn, a division of Pfizer.
