Human drug used to treat some animal prostate conditions recalled

DVM360 MAGAZINE

National Report -- A human drug sometimes used by veterinarians to treat certain prostate conditions has been recalled due to a possible mislabeling error, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Finasteride, used to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia in humans, may been mislabeled as Citalopram, used to treat depression, by a third-party manufacturer, according to FDA. Bottles with the lot number FI0510058-A are affected by the recall.

Adverse reactions can be reported to FDA at (800) 332-1088.
