MSU sends teachers, students on statewide Neuter-a-Thon

East Lansing, Mich. -- Professors and student volunteers from Michigan State University's College of Veterinary Medicine are spending three weeks traveling across the state to perform free and low-cost spays and neuters on cats and dogs.

The 24 students on the trip will perform roughly 100 neuters or spays a day with the help of animal rescue groups and animal shelters in various cities.

This marks the 12th year of Neuter-a-Thons at the school. MSU funds the Neuter-a-Thon through grants and smaller spay and neuter events throughout the year.
