JEFFERSON CITY, MO. — If a proposed state law passes, anyone employed by an animal agricultural operation who records suspected animal abuse could be obligated to turn over the unedited recording to law enforcement within 24 hours.

Senate Bill 695 would apply to any type of recording documenting possible animal abuse or neglect by an employee of a farm or agricultural business. This proposed law would be considered a misdemeanor offense.

The bill was introduced Jan. 24 and is being reviewed by agricultural committees.
