New Hampshire dog racing ban takes effect

Concord, N.H. -- Dog racing officially becomes an illegal activity in New Hampshire with the start of 2011, though broadcasts of races elsewhere still will be permitted.

New Hampshire House Bill 630 prohibits live dog racing in New Hampshire and was signed into law by the governor July 9. The new law does, however, allow existing race licensees to broadcast simulcast running and harness horse and dogs races.

HB 630 takes effect January 1, 2011.
