Boehringer Ingelheim Vetmedica Inc. is calling on the equine industry for help with infectious disease research. The animal health company is asking equine veterinarians, students, teachers and researchers to submit proposals for a yearlong research study and, in turn, five $15,000 awards are up for grabs.

According to the rules posted on Boehringer Ingelheim’s website, an independent review board will select the winners and proposals must address one or more of the following criteria:

> Proposal must show practical application and the ability to improve the diagnosis, pathogenesis, transmission, control and/or prevention of equine infectious disease.

> Equine infectious disease can be bacterial or viral etiology.

The deadline to submit completed proposals is Tuesday, Oct. 15. For more information on the research topic and instructions on how to submit your entry, visit equinediseaseresearch.com.
