ATLANTA, GA — Georgia lawmakers have reworked the state's previous student loan repayment program and established a board to purchase the loans of veterinary students that will practice food-animal medicine in Georgia.

The program will award up to five approved applicants per year with loan purchases of up to $80,000. The program is subject to annual appropriations from the state, according to legislation.
